LMR16006: Drop-in replace a LMR16006XDDCR with a LMR16006YDDCR

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to confirm if he can drop-in replace a LMR16006XDDCR with a LMR16006YDDCR. The datasheet shows that the difference between the two devices is the switching frequency. According to our customer,

From your document SLVAED3 it looks like its just an efficiency question. I would just like to check if i also need to change some of the surrounding components, such as the inductor, etc. Vin is 48V We typically need about 5V, 100mA.

Here is the schematic diagram from our customer.

I tried to run Webench using the LMR16006Y but the error "Design cannot be created!" appeared as shown in the screenshot below. Can you please confirm why Webench can simulate the LMR16006Y?

Hi Danilo,

The WEBENCH fails because the minimum on time of 80 ns is not met when the 2.1MHz "Y" option is in a 48V to 5V configuration. The minimum is met with the "X" option, therefore they are not drop in replacements.

Ton = (Vout/Vin)/Fsw

The customer can consider using the LMR36006 at 1MHz or the LMR36006-Q1 at 400kHz.
