BQ25890: Not able to set the Maximum charging current

Part Number: BQ25890

Hai

I am using a 5V/6A USB type-C wall adapter for the input power supply.

I was set the maximum input current (ILIM) to 2.5 A through the REG00.

Charge Current Limit  I was set 5A through the REG04.

I am using a 11000mA Li-ion battery it will take 6 hours to fully charge.

could you please help me to set the maximum current?

Thanks

Pandian

  • Hi Pandian,

REG04 bits [6:0] is how you set your desired fast charge current, which is the current the device will attempt to charge at during the CC (constant current) portion of the charge cycle. As the datasheet mentions the default fast charge current at powerup and when the device is in default mode is 2 A.

Be aware there are various functions on the device which may lead the IC to charge the battery at a current below the ICHG setting. One example is DPM mode (dynamic power management). Information on DPM is in section 9.2.6.2 of the datasheet.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
