TPS62912: LDO Mode when Vin becomes smaller Vout

Part Number: TPS62912
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62913

Hi Power Experts,

my customer is looking in the TPS62912.

What happen if Vin becomes <= Vout, for example if they set Vout to 5V and the input becomes 5V or smaller ? I haven’t found an LDO mode in the DS.

Many Thanks

Best wishes,

Olrik

  • Olrik,

The TPS62912 and TPS62913 are a peak current mode architecture with an integrated boot cap.  These parts have a minimum off time of 60ns (max) when the part is switching, but will go to 100% duty cycle when the part no longer needs to switch.  The dropout between input and output will depend on the load current because of the high side Rdson.
