UCC5350: Ucc5350s has a UVLO of only 8V - why not 12V as all other UCC53x0y versions ??

Dear HPD Experts,

The ucc5350m has a UVLO of 12V while the ucc5350s has a UVLO of only 8V.

  • Any reasoning behind this?

Especially as ucc5320 and ucc5390 has the same UVLO irrespective of the split or the miler type.

    Being the evil geniuses that we are, we sometimes make some devices specifically tuned to a particular customer's request (say, Spectre, for example...), and then release that part to the general market to achieve TOTAL WORLD DOMINATION!

    In general, systems with IGBTs need higher drive voltages, hence higher UVLO, and IGBTs typically have worse miller capacitance than silicon FETs, so the Miller clamp is needed. I am seeing most SiC customers using split supplies to achieve a negative turn-off bias, as well as the Miller Clamp. And, sometimes it is a little difficult to find all the UVLO versions. We typically use a letter at the end of the p/n to identify a different UVLO option (A or B).

    That thought crossed my mind (particular customer's request ) - but it did not lead to total world dominance though....

    So customers need to steer towards UCC5390S to to get at 12V UVLO version with min 5A drive staying the in the UCC53x0 series..
