LM5146-Q1-EVM12V: how to modify to change I/P to take upto 95VDC and O/p Current upto 9A?

Dear E2E Forum,

I need to use LM5146-Q1-EVM12V.

I need minro modification as per my requirement given below:

I/p on this card supports only 15V-85V DC but, my requirement for I/p is 45V-95V DC. So can i use it? what modification do i need to do for the same
O/p on card is 12V upto 8A. but my requirement is o/p 12V 9A. So again can i use it? what modification do i need to do for the same?

Hi Vijay,

No changes required for 95V/9A. Just watch the SW voltage overshoot so that it doesn't exceed the datasheet abs max rating.

Sorry for being naïve can you be more specific how do i do that? Hardware was design for for max 85 8A only right? Deeply awaiting your reply!

Hi Vijay,

The EVM uses 100V MOSFETs, so you can increase the input voltage as needed. Just monitor the SW voltage so that its spike stays below ~100V. You may need to add a gate/boot resistor to limit this spike during the high-side MOSFET turn on. Also, the extra 1A of output current shouldn't be a problem as the current limit is set around 12A. You can adjust the current limit higher by increasing the ILIM resistance if needed.
