Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS562202,
I have a design where the TPS563202 (and possible alternate TPS562202) is configured to output 5V, and I want it to work with an input voltage range of about 4.5V to 16V. I would like to know if there would be any possible issues when the input voltage gets close to or below the target voltage (so Vin from 5.5 to 4.5V). I suspect the behavior of this device would be for the high side MOSFET to be on 100% of the time, so with a typical resistance of 95 mOhm, Vout = Vin - 95 mOhm * current. Therefore at 500 mA, voltage drop is only about 50 mV, theoretically.
Is this correct? Are there any possible issues doing this? I would like assurance that it is okay to operate the device like this before I go on with the design. The datasheet doesn't speak to this mode of operation.
Thanks,
Charlie
