LM5036: LTspice models do not run using the available download files.

Part Number: LM5036
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5035C

The .lib file of the PSpice model that can be downloaded is a different language/format than other chips, such as of the LM5035C. I am not able to run my LTspice models using the LM5036. Is there another file to download, or can I fix it differently?

  • Oscar,

I'm sorry you are having issues running the LM5036 PSPICE model in LTSpice. As you know LTSpice is not supported by TI but TI has licensed with Cadence to offer PSPICE for TI and you should be able to run the LM5036 PSPICE model on this platform without any issues. I also checked the TINA sim models in the LM5036 product folder and those seem to be running without errors as expected. Thanks for connecting through E2E.

    Regards,

    Steve

  • Hello Steve,

Allright, I get that. But typically those PSPICE models can be used to generate LTspice models. For instance, before I've used the PSPICE models of the LM5035C chip which also works perfectly in LTspice. And if I compare the code of the .lib files with one another (LM5035C vs. LM5036), there is a huge difference. It seems that the code language is totally different? Therefore I would suppose that also issues may arise when using PSPICE?

And btw, I can't find TINA simulation models in the product folder? There is only a SIMPLIS and PSPICE model available together with an excel sheet, or is there another folder existing which I didn't spot yet?

    Regards,

    Oscar

  • Oscar,

We do our best to assure that the models available in any TI product folder work as expected when used with TI their intended simulation tools. PSPICE and Simplis models should also work as expected when using full versions of these simulation tools. I'm not sure why there are syntax differences between LM5035C vs. LM5036 code? The LM5036 appears to be a more recently developed model compared to LM5035C which is a legacy products that could have been partly developed by National or after the TI acquisition. In any case, these will not be supported to the degree you are asking and were not developed intending to run with LTSpice.  If some of our PSPICE models are running on LTSpice while others are not, it could be they were developed using different compliers - I'm not sure? Contacting Cadence directly may lead to better support about to help answer your question? Cadence has a PSPICE forum similar to TI E2E.

LM5036 only has PSPICE and Simplis models but I checked the LM5035C product folder and see two TINA models:
