TPS7A33: Is it capable of sourcing current ?

Part Number: TPS7A33

Hello,

My application requires having a -9.7V which is capable of sourcing current up-to 400mA. I wanted to ask if TPS7A33 has current sourcing capability. Its datasheet mentions that it is capable of providing 0 to 1A of current(-ve sign is not used). I simulated the same in TINA to check this. That model was able to source this kind of current but I am not very sure if this model characterizes this functionality. Can someone confirm if this TPS7A33 would be appropriate for this application.

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Chandra,

Normally, when using negative rails, you are sinking current, as where using positive rails, you are sourcing current. Therefore, the TPS7A33 LDO will sink current rather than sourcing it.

There are some devices like DDR terminators which can source/sink currents if needed.

    Best,
