TPS62240: Timing spec between Vin and EN

Part Number: TPS62240
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62840, TPS62824, TPS62624

Dear Specialists,

Our customer is considering TPS62240 and has a timing spec between Vin and EN.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

In order to extend the battery life, I am thinking of intermittently driving the power supply of TPS62240.

Could you please let us know about the timing specifications between Vin and EN pin.

-Is there a waiting time required from VIN rising to setting EN to "H"?
-Is it necessary to change EN  "L" before turning off the power of the IC?  Or is there a timing spec?

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Hi Shinichi,

According to the Absolute max rating table in the datasheet, the max voltage at the EN pin is limited to VIN +0.3V. So it would be good to first pull EN low before turning off the VIN. There is no other timing requirement between VIN and EN voltages.

If this is a new project you can also suggest the following devices TPS62824 and TPS62840.

TPS62840 is a low IQ device, especially suitable for battery powered applications with stringent power requirements.

    Best regards,

    Varun

  • Hi Varun,

    Thank you for your reply.

I'll share the customer to make sure that the EN voltage never exceed VIN + 0.3V at both the rising and falling of the power.

Also, I'll promote TPS62624 and TPS62824 to the customer.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi
