In some of my prior designs where an external inductor was used we had identified issues with having a metal grounded housing in very close proximity to the inductor.
Is there any concern with having a metal housing that is <0.1 mm from top surface?
Hi Errol,
Thanks for coming to us with your query.
A clearance of <0.1mm between the inductor and the metal housing might not be enough to ensure they will not touch each other during a slight mechanical vibration or variation on metal housing tolerance.
How about putting a Kapton tape on the metal casing? It has a maximum thickness of 0.1mm only.
