CSD86336Q3D: Is Using 2 of This Part Recommended To Use In Full Bridge Gate Driver (DRV8770RGER)?

Part Number: CSD86336Q3D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD87334Q3D, DRV8770

I am designing a MMC. For my portion, I am designing the inverter part of the MMC and the gate driver is activated with the PWM signals. Is it okay for a full-bridge gate driver (DRV8770RGER) to drive 2 of the half-bridge transistors (CSD86336Q3D)? Is it recommended? If not, are there any other similar parts recommended to use?

Thanks for responding!

  • Hello Yun Liu,

Thanks for your interest in TI FETs. TI's power blocks can be used in motor drive applications. The CSD86336Q3D uses different size device for the top (small die) and bottom (large die) FETs and is optimized for low duty cycle, synchronous buck converter applications. I would recommend the CSD87334Q3D which uses same size top and bottom FETs typical of motor drive and high duty cycle sync buck applications. Please note, the abs max VGS ≤ 10V for both of these power block devices. The DRV8770 can drive close to the input voltage which may exceed 10V. If that is the case, then neither of these devices are compatible. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
