TPS22918 Load switch reboot with delta changes PCb

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22918EVM, TPS22918

TPS22918TDBVRQ1 , we are using this part in our design, In revision 5 we were using 100pf @ CT pin board was working normally. Later in the updated revision with delta changes and PCB material changed

We are seeing reboot when the TPS22918TDBVRQ1 switch is turned ON. We tried for around 30 to 40 times same issue observed consistantly. In the same board when we probed for rise time @ the output pin of switch we have not seen this issue. later we checked multiple times issue not reproduced.

Samething repeated with board 2, board3, board 4.

Until we probed issue was there once it is probed issue does not repeats back, why this is happening what is the logic behind this not understood.

Also, let us know with PCB revision change with very minor delta change why we are seeing this issue how to resolve.

  • Dinesh,

If the devices were working on the old PCB, and the only thing happened was a change to the PCB that started to cause this issue- there has to be something related to the PCB change that is causing the issue. Something like a layout/soldering issue that would cause a short/open on one of the connections would be my guess.

To rule out the device, I would recommend unsoldering the TPS22918 from the PCB and soldering it to a TPS22918EVM to verify the device is functional as expected. Again, due to the fact that only the PCB changed this would point more towards a system level problem versus a device specific problem.
