TPS63802EVM: Quiescent Current in PWM mode

Part Number: TPS63802EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63802

Hi,

We are evaluating the quiescent current of the IC.

TPS63802EVM is powered from Nordic Power Profiler Kit II - which can measure the current thru it.

EVM is not loaded.

Measured current are as per the table below.

Can you please confirm there reading are in line with the expectation, especially in PWM mode.

Thanks,

Chandan N

  • Hi   Chandan,

the consumption both with PFM/PWM mode are make sense.

any question or concern about them?

the quiescent in the EC table is tested with device only, that means no consumption of external components and it will much lower than the test result on board.

during FPWM, IC keep switching all the time, that means we will got some switching loss and all functions internal all working. so the consumption will be much higher. With different input, the consumption will be different caused by different peak, RMS current and different working status.

  • Hi Tao,

Thanks for the reply and confirming the readings are inline with the expected behavior of the EVM circuit.

By looking at the difference between PFM and PWM mode consumptions, I was thinking there might be something which I am missing. Because the difference is huge, 25uA to 17mA.

    Thanks,
