BQ79616EVM-021: No Response is Received from Device

Part Number: BQ79616EVM-021
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ79616-Q1, BQ769142

Hi,

I am trying to implement the sample code given in "BQ79616-Q1 Software Design Reference" document. I have connected an MCU <->BQ79616EVM through the J17 connector. I have connected J17.5 to MCU_GND, J17.6 to MCU_3v3, J17.7 to MCU_UARTTX and J17.8 to MCU_UARTRX pins. I have then send the WAKE Ping and I saw the D1 light up. Following the document, I have sent the following messages:

{D0, 03, 4C, 00, FC,  24}, {D0, 03, 09, 01, 0F, 74}, {D0, 03, 06, 00, CB, 44}, {D0, 03, 08, 02, 4E, E5}, {90, 00, 03, 08, 01, D2, 1D}, {C0, 03, 4C, 00, F8, E4}

After the broadcast read command I expected for the EVM to send a message back but there is no response from the EVM. I am sending you scoped TX and RX pins of EVM attached.

Can you please help me with this issue? What am I doing wrong?

  • Hello,
    Can anyway help us on this?. We still have no progress on having a connection with the kits with our own MCU.

    We bought 2 evaluation kits: BQ79616EVM and BQ79656. Later, we want to have a daisy-chain design for a  24-cell battery using both BQ7961x and BQ7965x BMS chips.

     We are experienced with BQ769142, which we used it for a scooter project. However, these automotive chips are rather different.

    Thanks,
