TPS562209: layout guidelines restricting current flow under device

Part Number: TPS562209
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS566242EVM

Hi Team,

same question as it was asked ~6 years ago; unfortunately there was no answer back in the days to the post.
See TPS562209/TPS563209 - layout guidelines restricting current flow under device - Power management forum - Power management - TI E2E support forums

Our customer noticed exactly the same comment in the d/s:

10.1 Layout Guidelines

5. Do not allow switching current to flow under the device.

What are the reasons for this layout restriction?

Any details & feedback is appreciated

Cheers
Martin

  • Hi Martin!

Because switching node has a high dv/dt. If put it under device, because the existing of parasitic capacitance , there may be a noise current through device and disturb the normal operation. So we don't suggest put high noise node under device, such as SW and VIN.

You can refer tps566242EVM for more details of 6-pin layout.
