BQ24610: Same

Part Number: BQ24610
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCA9554,

Hi Team,

I am using BQ24610 for charger application. I am also using PCA9554 (I2C to IO expander) in the same PCB. Is it recommended to use the VREF (3.3V) output from BQ24610 to power the PCA9554 (VCC pin).

If I can use it, do I have to take any additional protection for this power supply?

Thanks in advance.

Charles. A

  • Hi Charles,

VREF has a max current load it can support, specified in the datasheet. You will need to verify if PCA9554 draws less than the max current VREF can supply. I would recommend testing the VREF supply regulation when load is applied. Keep in mind a valid input voltage is required for the VREF rail to come up.
