BQ25890: Is there any way to beboot the system by write command to the BQ25890?

Hi,

To power down the system by command, I can do that by setting REG09.bit.BATFET_DIS=1 and REG00.bit.EN_HIZ=1.

To reboot the system by command, is there any way?

In my system, the /QON pin is connected to a button, not connected to a CPU pin.

Hi Frank,

Yes, to reboot the system by I2C command you can set BATFET_DIS = 0 or use REG_RST = 1(REG14 bit 7) to reset all registers.

Hi Garrett,

I didn't mean to reset the BQ25890 chip registers.

I mean to power off the VSYS and then power on. That is, to reset the whole system which is powered by the BQ25890.

Hi Frank,

setting BATFET_DIS = 0 following your initial setting of REG09.bit.BATFET_DIS=1 and REG00.bit.EN_HIZ=1 will reset the system load powered by the bq25890.

Hi Garrett,

Yes. But in my board, the CPU who is sending command to the BQ25890 via I2C, is powered by the BQ25890.

Is there any other way to reset the power, controlled by the CPU?

Hi Frank,

Unfortunately there is not. All ways to exit ship mode are listed in section 9.2.10.2 of the datasheet on page 29. The only ways to reset the system power are via I2C control or the /QON pin.

The /QON pin also has the function to perform a system reset by turning batfet off then back on automatically, but only when there is no input adapter present.
