Implementing Over-Discharge protection with TPS61027

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3803

Hello!

I'm designing a Circuit, which is powered by 3 Ni-MH cells. To prevent over-discharging I would like the converter to disable itself when the battery voltage reaches 3.0V.

Apart from a resistive divider on the LBI pin, what external circuitry would one use to achieve this?

  • The LBI/LBO comparator is only operational when the device is enabled with EN pulled high.  So, you cannot tie LBO to ENable because the IC will never turn on.  I suggest a separate SVS circuit like TPS3803 to peform the function you desire.
