LM317-N: About difference between LM317T/NOPB and LM317T/LF01

Guru 21045 points
Part Number: LM317-N

Hi Team,

I would like to know the difference between LM317T/NOPB and LM317T/LF01.

--------

[Q1]

“Op Temp (°C)” is blank.

I guess that it is “0 to 125”.

Is my understanding correct?

--------

[Q2]

I understand that LM317T/NOPB is TO220(NDE) and LM317T/LF01 is TO220(NDG).

However, there is no Thermal Information of NDG in the datasheet.

Is NDG the same value as NDE?

--------

[Q3]

Is "LM317T/LF01" the same electrical characteristics as " LM317T/NOPB "?

--------

Regards,

  • Hi Hide,

    1. Yes, the operating temperature range for all LM317-N devices is 0C to 125C.

    2. NDE package is through-hole and NDG package is surface mount, so they'll have different thermal characteristics even though they're pretty similar packages. I found thermal simulation data for the NDG package that was not officially added to the datasheet, so you can just use this as a reference.

    Theta JA-High K (standard datasheet value) 28.3
Theta JC, top (standard datasheet value) 50.0
Theta JB (standard datasheet value) 11.1
Psi JT (standard datasheet value) 7.1
Psi JB (standard datasheet value) 11.1
Theta JC, bottom (standard datasheet value) 0.8

    3. Yes they use the same die.
