TPS54329: TPS54329 OCP dicussion

Part Number: TPS54329

Dear team,

We are testing OCP function of TPS54329 and find PWM is still there once current limit be trigger.

But output voltage drop to zero during OCP.

According to datasheet, device will turn on low-side FET until no over current at output.

 Could you let me know below 2 questions?

1. Does PWM switching due to output current reduce and VREG5 keep high?

2. Why output voltage cannot back to normal voltage level in TPS54329(non-latch)?

CH1=VREG5/ CH2=Vout/ CH3=SW/ CH4=Iout

Regards,

Ben

  • Hi Ben,

    How do you test OCP? Add external load to the output or short output directly?

    1. The PWM switching is due to output current reduce to 3.36A and VREG5 keep high.

    2. The output voltage should be back to normal voltage level if you release the output over current condition. Please make sure you release the over current condition. For example, remove the output short.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Nancy
