TPS63710: output voltage not coming up

Part Number: TPS63710

Hi Team,

I am using TPS63710DRRR in my design to generate -5V output with 12V input supply. The schematic is as:

I have 6 boards, out of which in 1 board output voltage is not showing up. I am measuring approx. -56mV at the output instead of -5V.

I have tried the following checks for debugging.

1. The output voltage rail impedance is good and same as of working boards.

2. The enable input is also provided ( 5V )

3. VAUX output is showing as expected ( 4.6V ).

4. VREF output is showing approx. -56mV which should be greater I feel. The impedance of VREF pin also looks fine ( approx. same as working boards).  I tried replacing the IC but still I am facing the same issue.

I request your support for debugging.

Thanks in Advance

  • Hi Kiran,

    1. You may check soldering on that board. Make sure there is no wrong parts and have good soldering on those resistors, capacitors and inductor.

    2. Try connect EN to Vin to see if it can start up.

    3. Make sure C865/866/867 has enough voltage rating (25V).

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks,

    Nancy

  • Hi Nancy,

    Thanks for the update.

The issue got resolved. It was an assembly issue. The inductor was mounted in wrong orientation, after mounting it properly the issue got fixed and -5V is showing up.
