USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01: To configure TPS25750D as Source Only mode

Part Number: USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25792, TPS25750

Hi team,

I wonder if I can configure TPS25750D on USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01 as Source Only(power provider) mode. I went through all user's guide and noticed that it has built for Sink mode and cannot provide power to type C connector on the board.

I'm asking this because my customer is willing to use TPS25750D as a source only but we don't have TPS25750D EVM stocks but  USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01.

Please refer to below customer's system diagram.

Thank you,

Jay

  • Hi Jay,

The USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01 can source power from the battery through the BQ25792 and the TPS25750.

  • Hi Mike,

    Thanks for letting me know.

I tried to configure USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01 board with web GUI using Aardvark but I still couldn't figured out how to configure it. Would you help me out?

Q1. Firstly, I picked the source only block then generated and flashed Binary files to the EVM. But there's no power output on Type-C connector.

Is it not allowed to use the source only block on this EVM? Is it only able to be configured with the first one?

Q2. Then I tried the first block. But still couldn't get any power from Type-C connector. Would you please guide me how to configure source only mode on USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01?

Q3. Does "Verify"alert matters on Totalphase program? It seems weird that I got "Verify failed" errors when I write any binary codes from Web GUI. However when I write the default EVM bianary codes again, it tells Verifiy is succeded.

    Thanks,

    Jay

  • Hi Mike,

    Never mind, problem solved.

I noticed that I had connected power supply to BATT(J2) not SYS(J1).
