UCC25800-Q1: Transformer design

Part Number: UCC25800-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC25800

Hi team,

Can the transformer of UCC25800 be designed with Ferrite core?
Is there anything to watch out for?

My customer's circuit can not work normally. but use WE its OK.

My customer use the Turn ratio below

Pri=6T

Secend:10T

Core:EF16

Lp=28uH

  • Jimmy,

    No problem to use ferrite material - this is what is expected. Please follow the guidance given in data sheet of no air gap or very minimal gap and assure that LMAG>>LLKG. It's not clear what the problem is or what your goal of the transformer redesign is but perhaps the design is ok and the resonant capacitor(s) need to be adjusted? For additional guidance please see the UCC25800 app note here.

    Regards,

    Steve M
