TPS56C20: control output of TPS56C20 by using arduino uno through i2c communication

Hi,

I'm new to i2c , I am trying to control the voltage of TPS56C20 by using arduino uno through i2c communication. but i am not able to find board address and Register Address, and Voltage Register address. if anyone know these addresses please do update here.

i have found few in datasheet, but i dont know if it is the one.

Chip Address = 01101000 ?

Voltage Register address = 01010000 (for 1.0V output) ?

please help me in finding these addresses for controlling the ic.

Hi Kaushik,

For chip address, please refer to datasheet Table 1, which is related to A0 & A1 pin configurations.

For register address, please refer to datasheet 8.6.1. If you want to write VOUT register, then the register address is 0.

If you want to set VOUT=1.0V, according to Table 2, the register data should be 10101000 (the bit [7] is odd parity)

Thank you so much Miranda for helping resolve my issue, apart from this my controller's i2c frequency was also low(80-100khz) later I realized that i2c frequency of IC is 400khz. now I'm able to control the voltage output if this IC.

Hi,

I am trying to disable the output( i.e to make the output voltage zero) through i2c,

I tried to use Control register-B (0x09) and made bit-7 low while the hardware enable pin was floating.

(I basically want to turn off the output and and also enable it using i2c)

please let me know if there is a right procedure or register address to bring down the output to zero using i2c.

Thank you for the reply, the i2c enable/disable was working when the external EN pin was grounded.
