Hi,

We have the footprint for LMZ31707 or LMZ31710 designed on the PCB for a medical device that has been shipping for a few years.

I'm aware this is an active part but currently out of stock or hard to find. Is there any other direct replacement or something similar that we can re-spin the board to fit?

We like that it has low I(Q) so when it's turned off it doesn't drain the backup battery source.

Hi Khoi,

What are your input and output voltages? What is your output current?

TPS84A20 is a direct replacement for LMZ31710, but TPS84A20 seems to be out of stock as well !

You may want to look at PTD08A210W, PTD08D210W, PTD08A10W, PTH08T241W and PTH08T240W as well.

All the above parts are DC/DC modules with integrated power inductor.

Would you be able to consider using a DC/DC IC/CHIP that needs external power inductor to operate as well?

If so, we may be able to offer you such IC with values of all external components around it. Please advise.

Hi Yitzhak,

My input is 15VDC (since I need to charge 12V 3-cell lithium with BQ24171RGY). Output is 5Vout, 6A - 10A Range.

Is the shortage a short term issue until next year since the part is still active?

I can consider the IC as well.

I will also look into TPS84A20 since it should be compatible drop in. I picked the LMZ31707 in the past since it has a few other option for migration.

Attached is my current schematic, we hope we don't have to change since we need to apply for FDA again.

The only part that is 100% compatible as a replacement is TPS84A20, but it is not available in stock.

LMZ22010 is available, but you need to change the schematic.

If we want to go with single chip design with external inductor, etc. what would be the recommended IC to start look?

The price gauging for these modules is currently out of control :-) more than 10x.

Hi Khoi,

TPS542A52, TPS542A50,TPS51397A , TPS56C230, TPS54A24 and TPS53319 can all do the job.

You can user TI's WeBench tool to design and get the full BOM.

I have used the LMZ22010 in the past so we'll probably go with that.

One question I have on the Shutdown quiescent current, LMZ22010 listed at 32uA. Is it in the range as LMZ31710?

We used the module to power an intel Apollo Lake . Intel N3350 module, but we have battery backup so we try to keep the shutdown current low.

Hi Khoi,

I do not know the exact quiescent current of LMZ31710.

But both LMZ22010 and LMZ31710 use ICs with quiescent current of about 2 uA (Typical).

So, I am guessing that the Shutdown quiescent current of both modules should be similar.
