UCC21520: Can it drive a Half-Bridge with a SiC MOSFET

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to confirm if the UCC21520 can drive a Half-Bridge with a SiC MOSFET. According to our customer, he can not find any information or examples on how to connect a SiC MOSFET in series to the Gate Drive.

Hi Danilo,

Typically, we recommend UCC21530 for SiC applications since it has 12-V UVLO. UCC21520 could be used if the power switch is compatible with an 8-V UVLO threshold. We have a reference design that uses UCC21530 to drive SiC MOSFETs in a half-bridge if the customer would like to see an example.

Hello Danilo,

Do you have UCC21530 in stock since that is what is recommended? I would like to use this rather than the UCC21520.

For future reference, inventory is shown under the "ordering & quality" tab, linked here. You can use the "subscribe to updates" button (shown in your screenshot) to get updates regarding availability, among other things.

Regarding an alternative, please see my original reply to Danilo. What alternatives are available to you is likely determined by the UVLO threshold you require. Please reference the linked FAQ in that response for more detail on our dual-channel drivers.
