LMR33640: wave soldering

Hello,

Our customer is looking for a DCDC converter to meet following spec, and found out LMR33640 is the best. However I do not know LMR33640 can support wave soldering. Could you let me know if LMR33640 can support wave soldering.

- DCDC1

Vin=15V to 20V,

Vout=10V to 13V, Iout=3.5Amax, Efficiency should be higher than 95% at 5W (0.38A to 0.5A)

wave soldering capability is necessary.

- DCDC2

Vin=15V to 20V

Vout=3.45V, Iout=1A

wave soldering capability is necessary.

Hi Imi,

LMR33640 use SO8 package with thermal pad, so it can't support wave soldering,

Customer can try to check if the package can be mounted by SMD glue outside the thermal pad.

PS. It's OK that if LMR33640 is on the board side which will not attack the soldering wave

Thank you very much, I understood that LMR33640 cannot recommend wave soldering process.

Would you happen to let me know if we have wave soldering DCDC buck converter to meet his application.

Hi Imi

Some other parts like TPS54331, TPS5420 in SO8 package without thermal pad may OK for wave soldering.
