BQ75614EVM-021: unable to connect to hardware through USB2ANY

Part Number: BQ75614EVM-021
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

Hello Team,

I am using USB2ANY with BQ75614EVM.

USB2ANY has been updated with version 3_1_1_14.

here is the snapshot of GUI-

can you please comment, what is wrong with setup?

also should I match pin 1 of USB2ANY (pin with a small triangle marked) ribbon cable to pin 1 of J17 on the BQ75614EVM?

-Mahendra

  • Hi Mahendra,

Here are 2 images that should help with connecting the USB2ANY to the EVM. The first image defines the key side up of the USB2ANY, and the second image shows how to plug into j17 on the EVM (once again, key side up). If you define the top left pin of J17 as pin 1, then this will be matched to pin9 of the USB2ANY (according to the pin diagram description of the USB2ANY that is attached).

To expand on the USB2ANY question, there is also an approach you could take that involves troubleshooting/experimenting with the device. In the bottom left corner of the GUI, the text should say hardware connected. If the text does NOT say hardware connected, try and plug/unplug the USB port to the computer from the USB2ANY. If the hardware is still not connected, it is worth flipping the direction that the USB2ANY connection is plugged into the BQ75614EVM (essentially try the connection with the port rotated 180 degrees).

After ensuring the Hardware Connected text shows up in the bottom left hand of the screen, check all connections once again and press the wakeup and auto address buttons in the Cell Monitoring Tab. This should allow the home screen connection to turn from red to green, which reflects a successful connection.

Please contact us if you have more questions. I hope this helped!

    Best Regards,

    TI Team

  • Hi Team,

Also, my customer would like to know, is there any provision in BQautoEVAL GUI to observe what command are being exchanged between controller and BQ75614 over UART when each button in the GUI is pressed?

    Thanks in advance

    -Mahendra

  • Hi Mahendra,

Unfortunately this feature is not available on the BQautoEVAL GUI to my knowledge. This is a feature that we have recently added to our newer GUIs that support the BQ797XX family of devices.

    Thanks,

    Geoff
