Hi All,

I have a question about the eFuse application report Basics of eFuses (SLVA862A).

What is the difference between "Reverse Current Protection" and "Input Reverse Polarity Protection" in the protection function of eFuse?

Hi Ishiwata,

Thanks for reaching out.

1. Reverse current protection means blocking reverse current . For eg suppose VOUT>VIN, then reverse current can flow if protection is not there.

2. Reverse polarity protection means protecting the load and device when input voltage polarity is reversed for eg connecting reverse battery.

Comparing the TPS25942A and TPS26600, I think they have the same structure because they have a NMOS and an PMOS.

Does the TPS25942A have an "Input Reverse Polarity Protection" feature?
Does TPS26600 have a "Reverse Current Protection" function?

Hi Ishiwata,

Yes they have similar structure. Both are NMOS in back to back configuration.

1. TPS25942 does not have inbuilt IRPP. You can use external diode like this to achieve IRPP. TPS25947 has inbuilt IRPP and RCB.

2. TPS26600 has both IRPP and RCB.
