TPS65133: Problem about the power consumption of TPS65133

Part Number: TPS65133

Dear TI experts,

I am designing a battery powered system that includes the TPS65133.

Is it possible to power the TPS65133 from the output of a subsystem with a Li-Ion Polymer battery in series with a 3.3V LDO linear regulator?

If so, do I need to choose an LDO regulator with a specific maximum output current?

For example, can LP3985IM5-3.3V (maximum output current 150mA) be used for this application?

Best regards,

Will

  • Hello,

As long as the battery voltage is 5V or less, you should be able to directly connect the battery to TPS65133 and this would be more straight forward and efficient solution.

Putting a LDO in series between the battery and TPS65133 should work functionally but I do not know why you would want to do that. Also, from output current perspective, 150mA output current capability of the LDO will be restrictive for 250mA output current capability of TPS65133 but that will ultimately depend on the how much load you have on the TPS65133. output rails.

    Kind Regards,

    Liaqat
