UCC12040: Best isolated device at VIN=5V, VOUT=5V, IOUT=7mA

Part Number: UCC12040
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCPA10505, , UCC12051-Q1, UCC12041-Q1, UCC12050

Hi support team,

I want to input 5V and output 5V isolated voltage.
The output current is 7mA and I am using DCPA10505, but the output voltage becomes large.
Therefore, it is necessary to insert a dummy resistor or LDO.

Is the UCC12040 the best alternative device for this specification?

Dice-K

  • Dice-K,

UCC12040 does not require a minimum load to maintain the regulation limits given in the data sheet and will regulate nicely at 35 mW or even 0 mW. UCC12040 is rated for 3 kV isolation compared to UCC12050 rated for 5 kV isolation. Also UCC12041-Q1 and UCC12051-Q1 are automotive versions that are p2p compatible so you essentially have 4 alternate part numbers that are drop in replacements. If 3 kV is enough isolation and automotive qual is not required, then yes, UCC12040 is the best choice.

    Regards,
