UCC28730-Q1: Query regarding output current tuning of PMP22557

Part Number: UCC28730-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28730, PMP22557, , TPS40210, TPS40210-Q1

Dear TI e2e Team,

We got the reference design from evaluation board (PMP22557) with part number of UCC28730. In that design given input voltage range is 60V to 120V and output 12V/0.4A. So as per our requirement is it possible to increase the output current by tuning any inductor or resistor values. If possible please let us know and mentioned our design requirements as below.

- > Input voltage range 9V to 150V

- > Output voltage 12V and 1.5A

- > If possible please provide TINA model of this IC.

  • Hi, Mr. Reddy:

Thank you for your inquire. Yes, UCC28730-Q1 can support 12V/1.5A by some design changing such as transformer, Rsense..etc. However, to enable UCC28730-Q1, it is needed to provide 21V to UCC28730's VCC. Thus, UCC28730-Q1 can not operate when input is below 21V if there is no extra voltage source to turn on UCC28730-Q1.

To meet your input requirement, it is needed to use other controller which can be activated below 9V, i.e. TPS40210-Q1. Please check if TPS40210 meets your requirement. Create a new thread if you have any questions about TPS40210-Q1. Our TI experts will reply you as soon as possible.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Wesley

  • We are looking for transformer less solution, PMP22557 board does not have transformer and  our Input voltage range 9V to 150V

  • Sorry for my typo.

As I mentioned, UCC28730-Q1 can not be activated as input is below 21V. So UCC28730-Q1 is not suitable to your application. You may need to find other solution which is able to operate as <9V.

    Regards,

    Wesley
