TPS65100: Current is too high with different input voltages

Part Number: TPS65100

Hi:

I'm working on the TPS65100 right now. It works fine when the input voltage is around 3.3V. However, if the input voltage is 5V, the chip takes a lot of current even without LCD connected. Usually, when the chip is driven with 3.3V without load, the current is around 60mA, but if the input voltage is 5V, it takes around 700mA. I checked the output voltages are all correct, and there seems no shorts. Not sure where those current goes. The schematic is below.

Thanks  in advance.

  • Hello,

5V input should not be a problem at all as max. input supply range is up to 5.5V for this device. I did notice in the schematics that you are not using the linear regulator controller and in that case I would recommend to connect ENR input to GND instead of pulling it up to Vin. Please try that to see if it resolves the issue as I do not see any other problems with the schematics.

    Kind Regards,
