BQ27542-G1: Learning fails, update status is not updated

Part Number: BQ27542-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, GPCCHEM

Hello,expert,

I encountered the following problems when using BQ27542-G1:

After the electricity meter is learned, the update status is not updated.

The attachment is the gg file after learning, can you help me review it, thank you.

  • Hello Wen,

Can you please also send a log file of the registers over time from bqStudios.

It seems that the learning cycle did not fully finished yet.

Before doing a learning cycle, make sure to program the correct chemID with bqStudio and callibrate the gauge.
To find the correct chemID you can either search for the model of the battery in the chemstry tab on bqStudio
or you can use the GPCCHEM tool.

    Sincerely,

    Nick

  • Hello Nick,

Thank you for your reply, the attachment is the log file.

Another point, the battery was originally fully charged at 4.4V, and later the customer requested that the step-down use be changed to 4.2V, but we did not re-do the ID, but just modified the relevant parameters.
Is this the decisive factor for the failure of gauge learning?

  • Hello Wen,

Thank you for providing the log file and for the additional information.

You do not have to re-do the chemID because the step-down voltage does not affect it.
I would recommend that you redo the learning cycle with the configuration of the battery fully charged
set to 4.4V. Then perform one more normal cycle with the VCT conditions matching the lower charge voltage.

    Thank you,
