Hi,

We want to use TPS65835 IC in our product so can anyone tell us the below answer of the questions?

1) Which MSP430 Microcontroller use in TPS65835 ?

2) Which CSS Version software needs to install to develop/debug the MSP430?

3) Which tools needs to be used to program/flash the IC using 2 Wire (SWDIO,SWCLK)?

Hi Yamini,

1) The MSP430 inside the TPS65835 is from the MSP430x2xx family of ultralow-power microcontrollers. Further information about the device modules and peripherals can be found in Section 5.5.2.1 of the TPS65835 datasheet.

2) This question would be better answered by the MSP team. I will connect you with them on this thread.

3) The flash memory programming process is described in this document here: MSP430 Programming With the JTAG Interface

Do you mean CCS? If so, in most applications you will want to use the latest version, which is currently 11.2.

To add to what James said here, you can also take a look at our MSP430 Hardware Tools User's Guide. Figure 2-2 shows the connections for Spy-Bi-Wire (2-wire JTAG). The MSP-FET or MSP-GANG tools can be used for programming MSPs with this interface, as well as the ez-FET and ez-FET Lite debuggers available on most MSP430 launchpads.

Hi James and Brandon,

Thanks for the quick response.

We understood the connection for the Spy-Bi-Wire but we want to flash the IC using SWD (Serial Wire Debug) protocol.

In the SWD Protocol, SWDIO and SWCLK pins are used (Highlighted in Green color in the connection image) so Can we flash the IC using SWD protocol using MSP-FET as MSP-FET Supports ARM JTAG and ARM SWD debug protocols?

Hi Yamini,

The MSP-FET does support ARM SWD as you noted, but the MSP430 inside the TPS65835 does not. It will only support 4-wire JTAG and Spy-Bi-Wire.
