TPS22810-Q1: Vin Absolute Max vs Vds Absolute Max of N-Fet

Part Number: TPS22810-Q1

We have a requirement to derate mosfet Vds to <40% of rated survival voltage.

This part is essentially just an N-FET and the part gives an absolute max input voltage of 20V. Is this due to risk to the fet itself due to it's Vds rating or is the risk for some support circuitry?

  • Hello Michael,

The ABS rating given to this device is identified through stress testing the device and finding at what point the device can be guaranteed to operate safely and within specifications. Based on the Vds rating of the FET is how we gather our ABS values, and that voltage is guaranteed for the lifetime of the device.
