TL494: About ESD(MM) for TL494IDR

Part Number: TL494

We have received an inquiry from a customer regarding the ESD(MM) for TL494IDR. HMD and CMD are described in the data sheet, but MM is not described, so please answer.
(Customer have reliability data issued about the product, reliability data states MM = 50V (R = 0Ω, C = 200pF)).

  • Hi,

The ESM MM is not provided in the test.  The charged device model (CDM) does a better job of screening for fast metal-to-metal contact events than MM.

The vast majority (>99%) of electrical failures in manufacturing correlate to CDM and electrical overstress (EOS), and not to MM. MM testing has not shown any additional failures not explained by CDM, HBM or EOS.

    Regards,

    Teng
