LM2766: max. capacitance for output capacitor (in-rush current limit?)

Part Number: LM2766

If low ESR/high capacity output capacitors are used, is there a limit? We are a bit concerned of the high in-rush current when the charge pump starts. Is 50µF ok?

  • Hello Alexander,

I do not expect issues with 50uF of output capacitance on the LM2766.

The startup time might be longer as the flying capacitor is most probable relatively small compared to the output capacitor, so you should check if the load does not already discharge the cap when it did not reach the voltage level you want to see.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
