Hey team,

I wanted to clarify PCM behavior for a deeply discharged battery that is <1.4V. From below, the fuel gauge IC will allow trickle charging if V_BATT > V_LVDET.

What happens if the battery is below this threshold? Will CHGFET open permanently? Is there a way to recover?

Hello JDJ,

This gauge does not have ZVCHG capabilities, it will only trigger the low voltage charging when above the LVDET threshold.

To confirm, there is no way to recover once the gauge is lower than VLDET (1.4V to 1.7V)?

Hello JDJ,

You would need to manually apply some voltage to the batteries to recover or add a different kind of analog recover if needed.

Our newer gauges like the BQ27Z746 support ZVCHG.
