BQ25618: ICHG set up

Part Number: BQ25618

Hi Team,

From the Table 8-9 of the DS, it can be seen that ICHG can be set to 1360mA by writing 111101B to ICHG[0-5]. It seems no code for 1380mA. Does it conflict to Fig7-7?

Also, I'd like to confirm that is it not configurable for 1181-1289mA ICHG?

Many thank.

Regards,

Hailiang

  • Hi Hailiang,

The 1380mA reported in the datasheet is either a typo or the charger is in VINDPM/IINDPM or thermal limit and therefore running at reduced charge current.

The charge current step size is 20mA so the charge current cannot be set less than 20mA resolution.

    Regards,

    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

I mean in the 1180-1500mA range, the steps don't seem to be 20mA. That is to say, values such as 1200mA and 1270mA are not configurable. Is that so?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Hailiang

  • Hi Hailiang,

You are correct, for the 1180-1500mA range the step size is larger than 20 mA. It is a 70mA step size for range 1290-1500 mA.

As stated on page 35 of the BQ25618 datasheet, due to the number of bits allocated for ICHG setting (REG02 bits 5:0) the charge current setting has a 20mA step size from 0mA up to 1180mA then only 4 settings (1290mA, 1360mA, 1430mA, 1500mA) up to the max charge current setting of 1.5A.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
