TPS2596: Inrush current, hard short or fast short definition

Hi team,

My customer is trying to select an E-fuse which could support a nominal current of 500mA however should support an inrush current of up to 1.5A (for max 470us ). Vin is 3V3 and auto retry is needed.

Questions:

  1. is TPS2596x1 suitable? or suggest other device
  2. in the DS, hard short and fast short is mentioned, what is the level?

    Hi Frank,

    1. Customer needs a device with ITIMER feature like TPS25947. We can set ITIMER to >470us. This way device allows current transient between ILIM and2*ILIM for timer duration.

    2. Level for short circuit detection for TPS2596 is 1.5*ILIM.
