BQ25505: BQ25505 VBAT_OV not crorrect

Part Number: BQ25505

Hi

The customer design with BQ25505, and find the VBAT_OV is not correct.

Attached the schematic

ROV1 and ROV2 set VBAT_OV the maximum OV is 3.1V, but in fact, but the actual charge is more than 3.1V.

How to solve this problem?

Waiting for your reply.

Thanks

  • Hi Star,

There are 2 possible causes.  If the 0.01-0.1uF VSTOR cap is not placed as close as possible to IC, switching noise can cause regulation issue.  The other more likely cause is parasitic resistance from residual solder flux as explained in the datasheet layout section.  I recommend removing the megaohm sized resistors, cleaning the board and then reinstalling them standing or their side are replacing them with 10-50x lower sized resistors to confirm that is the issue.
