BQ27520-G4: RM value may shift due to long-term storage

Part Number: BQ27520-G4

Hi Team,

Is it possible that the RM value will shift due to self-discharge when the battery is stored for a long time with the battery inserted in the application?

Also, please let me know if there is something that seems to be the cause of the RM value shifting due to self-discharge.

  • Hi,

The RM value is determined by a combination of your load select and the measured impedance. When the battery is stored for a long time, the value of your load select parameter will remain constant but the impedance of the cell can still change. These impedance values stored in the Ra table will update under a variety of conditions including things like changes in temperature that can still occur when the device is being stored. This, combined with self discharge of the battery could be what is causing your RM value to shift.

    Thanks,

    Jackson
