Hi,

I want to design DC-DC isolated converter details as below.

Input voltage range :- 17 - 33 VDC

Efficiency :- Above 91%

Output voltage:- 19 to 28 VDC

Output current :- 10A

OCP :- 14A

Protections requirement :- OVP, OCP, OTP, Short Circuit & Under voltage.

Main Switching frequency required min 60Khz and Max 100Khz...

Please suggest reference design or suitable part to start design. Which topology suitable for above specs??

Hi Teng,

To save space frequency is limited other reason is to reduce Conducted & Radiated noise..( If i'm wrong please correct me..)

What you suggest me switching frequency for details of my design.

May be 500Khz to 2Mhz also preferred for DC-DC converters. But what is advantages & disadvantages of this??

What you suggest me switching frequency for details of my design.

May be 500Khz to 2Mhz also preferred for DC-DC converters. But what is advantages & disadvantages of this??

Hi Vivek,

The maximum frequency is limited by controller, power switch, turn on/off delay, switching loss and so on.

The frequency larger than 500kHz may require GaN FET.

I have checked recommended design https://www.ti.com/tool/PMP8944#parameters is 150W. Can we design 240W in same topology and same reference design?? Which components need to change to design 240W in 150W?

Hi Vivek,

Yes, you can use this design. Active Clamp Forward Converter are mostly used in the power below 300W.

There are many tools to help you redesign the specs.
