ISO5452: DESAT during start up

Part Number: ISO5452

Hi team

Our customer is using ISO5452 as IGBT driver in servo, but we found that there is no clarification of DESAT during start up(VCC2 UVLO) in our datasheet, what would happen if IGBT is short already when starting up? Does DESAT take action in this case?

Because ACPL-332J will maintain DESAT function during start up, so customer used this function for production test. Expect for your reply, thanks!

  • Hi Shaofeng,

Referring to this table on the ISO5452 datasheet, on the first row, we can see that when VCC2 is less or equal to 9.5V, OUTH/L will be held LOW. DESAT/FLT will not be triggered in this case but the gate voltage will be held at VEE2.

On the ACPL-332J datasheet, I found the following description: "Once VO of the ACPL-332J is allowed to go high (VCC2 - VE > VUVLO+), the DESAT detection feature of the ACPL-332J will be the primary source of IGBT protection. UVLO is needed to ensure DESAT is functional. Once VCC2 is increased from 0V to above VUVLO+, DESAT will remain functional until VCC2 is decreased below VUVLO-." ACPL-332J's DESAT would not work during start up as well.
