LMR16030: Efficiency at 1MHz and 2 MHz

Part Number: LMR16030

Hi Team,

Our customer is using LMR16030 regulator to convert 48V TO 3.3V. Initially they used 500KHz as switching frequency. Now they are changing the switching frequency to 1MHz and 2 MHz. He would like to know how much does it affect the efficiency of the device? The datasheet shows some graphs at 500kHz but none for 1MHz and 2MHz

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hello

The efficiency will be drastically reduced.

However, more importantly, the device will skip cycles when trying to switch at 1MHz with such a low conversion ratio as 48Vin to 3.3Vout.

You can use equation 6 in the data sheet to investigate this.

Once you have a reasonable frequency selected, you can use the EVM to measure the efficiency.

    Thanks
