BQ76920: Design Querry

I am using BQ76920 along with Atmega328p for designing a 4s BMS and I have a doubt regarding why are we using the 1M ohm resistor between the gate and source of the charging discharging mosfets. If they are mosfet driving resistors why are we using such a big value or if they are for some other reason.
