USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01:BQ25792 SHIP MODE

Part Number: USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25750, BQ25792

HI

We are testing with a USB-PD-CHG-EVM board.
We configured the circuit as shown in the picture to use SHIP MODE.
The battery charge and ADC values were checked using the TI CHARGER GUI.
And to use SHIP MODE, it was set as shown in the picture.
Then, SDRV Control was changed to SHIP MODE, but it did not work in SHIP MODE.
Can you tell me why the SYS voltage is output even after changing to SHIP MODE?
*We use 4S

TPS25750D and FLASH were removed to use only BQ25792

  • Hello,

Unfortunately the firmware we wrote for the two devices does not support the ShipFET. In fact, it disables the ShipFet for every POR, Detach, and Hard Reset of the TPS25750. You may have to make sure the ShipFet is enabled in REG14 before using it.

In addition, it does not look like the ShipFET was attached in the same manner as the BQ25792 Typical Application Figure 10-1. Here your battery is connected to BAT, but in the recommended Application the BATP (through 100 Ohm) is connected to the battery and the BAT pin is connected to the FET only via the source pin.

    Regards,

    Mike Emanuel
