TPS7A02: TPS7A02 cannot enable with pulse signal...

Part Number: TPS7A02

Dear Sirs,

My customer product is Tag related product and they found they can't use TI LDO with the smart enable function.

Without smart enable function will no problem.

As their design, they will use tag at the first power on to conduct and generate a 3.6V/1s period pulse.

With this pulse, they can enable the LDO that for MCU power.

After MCU power on, MCU will control all power and provide LDO EN pin with a stable voltage level.

My question are:

1. Is such a design possible or not? if not, why customer design will ok for non-smart enable function LDO?

2. If yes, why do those smart enable LDO cannot work?

Thanks.

  • Hi Peter,

If I understood correctly, when the customer applies a 3.6V pulse to the EN pin, the device works properly, correct?

It is only when there is a smart enable function, and this is driven by an MCU. When the MCU provides the EN signal, the LDO does not turn on?

Do you have a schematic and a scope shot showing this behavior?

This device has a Smart Enable Feature:

    Best,
