[FAQ] LM5066: Differences between LM5066 and LM5066I

Part Number: LM5066

How do LM5066 and LM5066I differ?

  • Here is a summary of the differences between LM5066 and LM5066I.

    1. In their respective datasheets, Table 1 shows the differences in monitoring accuracy.
    2. The following PMBus commands are only supported by the LM5066I, not the LM5066.
      1. 5Dh: IIN_OC_WARN_LIMIT
      2. 86h: READ_EIN
      3. 89h: READ_IIN
      4. 97h: READ_PIN
      5. 7Fh: STATUS_OTHER
    3. A different value of RPWR would be required to set the same power limit. To determine the appropriate value of RPWR for a required power limit, use the respective design calculators. It leads to a change in the BOM.
    4. Default values in the following registers are different in LM5066 and LM5066I. Refer to Table 2. "Supported PMBus Commands" in the respective datasheets. This can lead to a few minor modifications in the firmware.
      1. 4Fh: OT_FAULT_LIMIT
      2. 51h: OT_WARN_LIMIT
      3. 78h: STATUS_BYTE
      4. 79h: STATUS_WORD
      5. 99h: MFR_ID
      6. 99h: MFR_ID
      7. D8h: MFR_SPECIFIC_08 ALERT_MASK
      8. DAh: MFR_SPECIFIC_10 BLOCK_READ
      9. DBh: MFR_SPECIFIC_11 SAMPLES_FOR_AVG
      10. E0h: MFR_SPECIFIC_16 BLACK_BOX_READ
      11. E1h: MFR_SPECIFIC_17 DIAGNOSTIC_WORD_READ
      12. E2h: MFR_SPECIFIC_18 AVG_BLOCK_READ
    5. LM5066 and LM5066I have different "Telemetry and Warning Conversion Coefficients.". For more information, see Table 47 in the LM5066I datasheet and Table 42 in the LM5066 datasheet.
